Doug is a proven commercialization leader in marketing, communications, and product management in the medical device and digital health industry. He is an 18-year international veteran of medical device go-to-market strategy, digital marketing strategy, and voice-of-customer design. Doug brings extensive leadership experience in top-of-funnel demand generation and execution of evidence-based healthcare market value for enterprise industry leaders such as Siemens, GE Healthcare, Baxter Healthcare, and Boston Scientific. Doug also has notable start-up experience at manufacturers of powered exoskeletons, premium medical imaging systems, and bioinformatics including machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Doug comes most recently from Flywheel.io a Series B startup where he served as Vice President of Marketing for the development of software as a service (SaaS) cloud platform enhancing research for world-renowned academic institutions such as Stanford University and life science institutions to enhance collaboration. Previously, he served as Vice President of Marketing and third employee hired for a Shanghai China based Series A startup rapidly growing an advanced multi-modality medical imaging business to grow in North America. Also, at Ekso Bionics publicly traded on NASDAQ, an innovative developer of powered-exoskeleton technology, Doug served as Director of Global Marketing involved in product management, communications, investor relations, and public relations targeting innovative approaches to rehabilitation for spinal cord injury and stroke patient populations.
A viral research and forensic toxicologist by training, coupled with graduate management education, his early career included product management roles in over 25 countries related to cardiac rhythm management, peritoneal dialysis, and ultrasound.
Doug holds a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing & Bioscience Entrepreneurship from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine Biology from Bowling Green State University. He is published in the Journal of Forensic Science, has won awards such as Creative Healthcare Communication Award, and is quoted in press releases for user-experience best practices.
